We all think we can easily outsmart a simple mobile app, but Akinator is going to absolutely humble you. It is honestly one of the most mind-bending puzzle games sitting on the app store right now. You just think of a character literally anyone and this incredibly smug virtual genie fires off a handful of rapid questions before completely reading your mind. Your only real goal is to dig deep, think of the most obscure pop culture icons possible, and try to actually break his winning streak. Pulling off a stump is ridiculously hard. But it is exactly how you score some seriously rare in-game gear.

FRESH NEW THEMES AND DAILY MIND GAMES

If you haven’t booted this up in a while, the newest version just dropped a ton of fresh content.

They finally added dedicated movie and animal categories, which makes trying to trick the game way more chaotic. You also get a totally free daily challenge board tossed into the mix every morning. It gives you a great excuse to log in daily and constantly test your obscure knowledge against an AI that seemingly knows everything.

DECK OUT YOUR VIRTUAL MIND READER

You definitely don’t have to stare at the exact same traditional genie design forever.

The game actually hands you full control to completely customize his entire vibe. Mix and match different outfits. Throw a ridiculous hat on him. Want him looking completely absurd while he effortlessly guesses your favorite obscure superhero? Go for it. Building a weird, highly personalized aesthetic makes getting outsmarted a little less painful.

CRAZY COSTUMES AND CUSTOM BACKGROUNDS

The customization gets way deeper than just swapping shirts.

You can mess around with the ‘Geniz’ feature to totally overhaul the wallpaper system, splashing the background with whatever custom colors actually fit your mood. The absolute funniest part is watching the genie completely transform his identity. You can literally dress this ancient, omniscient mind-reader up as a brooding vampire, a gritty cowboy, or just some guy aggressively dancing at a retro disco.

MASSIVE WARDROBE UNLOCKS

You have a surprisingly stacked virtual closet to play with here.

Over a dozen wild hats. A massive rack of different outfits. You can basically spend hours just styling your character between all those intense guessing rounds. But earning this heavy gear means you have to seriously step up your gameplay. You have to throw the absolute hardest character challenges at him to unlock the top-tier loot. Grab your phone, dig deep into your memory, and see if you can finally beat the genie at his own game.
