Cubasis 3 has completely revolutionized what we expect from a mobile digital audio workstation. Whether you are laying down beats on a long commute or tracking vocals in a hotel room, this multi-award-winning app turns your smartphone, tablet, or Chromebook into a fully functional recording studio. It allows you to effortlessly capture your musical ideas the moment inspiration strikes and develop them into professional-sounding tracks without ever needing to open a laptop.
When it comes to editing, this platform refuses to cut corners. You can build massive projects with an unlimited number of audio and MIDI tracks, all backed by a pristine 32-bit floating-point audio engine that supports up to 24-bit/48 kHz resolution. If you need to tweak the tempo or adjust the pitch of a sample, the real-time time-stretching and pitch-shifting powered by zplane’s élastique 3 works flawlessly. Plus, the highly responsive virtual keyboard, chord buttons, and drum pads make beat-making and chord creation incredibly fluid.
You do not need to lug around heavy gear to get incredible, authentic sounds. The app comes packed with the Micrologue virtual analog synthesizer, featuring over a hundred ready-to-go presets to kickstart your creativity. You also get access to MicroSonic’s massive library of over 120 virtual instruments that range from rich acoustic pianos to heavy, driving drum kits. If you want a truly custom sound, you can easily load up the MiniSampler to build your own instruments from scratch.
Mixing a complex track on a mobile device used to be a nightmare, but this interface makes it remarkably intuitive. Each track gets its own studio-grade channel strip, and you can shape your sound using seventeen different effects processors. With flexible routing that includes eight insert and eight send effects, full sidechain support, and a DJ-like Spin FX plug-in, you have total control. When it is time to finalize the track, the exceptional Master Strip plug-in suite ensures you achieve a polished, radio-ready mix.
Your workflow does not have to stop at your touchscreen. The software plays nicely with a variety of audio and MIDI-compatible hardware, offering keyboard shortcut and mouse support for a more traditional feel. It fully supports MIDI Learn, Mackie Control (MCU), HUI protocols, and Ableton Link to keep all your gear perfectly in sync. Once your masterpiece is finished, exporting the project to Google Drive, Dropbox, external wireless flash drives, or directly into a desktop version of Cubase is incredibly straightforward.
The music production community has been incredibly vocal about how much this app elevates the mobile workflow. Producers consistently praise it for being the most reliable, intuitive audio recorder on the market. From capturing quick acoustic guitar demos to arranging full vocal harmonies, the recording quality consistently exceeds expectations. It completely removes the typical friction of traditional computer setups, making it easier than ever to sketch, edit, and finalize your songs no matter where your travels take you.
