Fighting off endless swarms of dangerous spirits is exactly the kind of chaotic, high stakes action I crave after a long day. You drop right into the shoes of a hero whose only job is to absolutely obliterate anything that goes bump in the night. The way this game handles combat is ridiculously fun, relying on a deeply customizable power system that lets you piece together your own perfect, monster shredding fighting style.
EFFORTLESSLY CARVING THROUGH THE UNDEAD
It completely nails that sweet spot between a casual time killer and an intense action brawler. The control scheme is a massive win here. You only need one hand to maneuver around the map and trigger your attacks, meaning you can easily grind out a few levels while holding your morning coffee.
Do not let the simple controls fool you, though. You are constantly swarmed by massive, terrifying waves of ghosts trying to drain your life force, and the screen gets insanely crowded. Surviving these huge mobs means you have to constantly hunt down legendary swords and wildly overpowered gear to keep your damage numbers high enough to stay alive. Finding a brand new blade that totally changes how your character attacks is easily one of the best feelings in the game.
ENDLESS WAYS TO BUILD YOUR PERFECT DEMON HUNTER
You never really know what kind of freakish enemy is going to spawn next. Your movement and dodging skills have to be completely on point if you want to survive the later stages.
The progression system is where I got totally hooked. You get to string together crazy skill combos, mixing your heavy weapon strikes with flashy abilities to melt through the tougher elite bosses. Once you get the hang of the base campaign, you start unlocking a ton of wild alternate game modes that completely flip the script on how you play. The best part is that no two players will ever build their hero exactly the same way. You have total freedom to spend your hard earned resources on whatever weird, niche power ups actually fit your personal playstyle.
