Moonlighter 2 Just Stealth Dropped on Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft totally forgot to tell us something huge.

If you skimmed the September Wave One list for Game Pass this week, you probably noticed a glaring omission. But guess what? Moonlighter 2 just stealth dropped on Xbox Series X|S for its massive 1.0 launch.

PC players have been messing around with the early access version (or “Game Preview,” as Microsoft likes to call it) since last November. Console players, though? We’ve been patiently twiddling our thumbs. It was promised as a Day One drop ages ago. But when the August news cycle rolled by with zero mention of the actual console launch, things looked a little bleak.

Thankfully, the wait is officially over.

OUT WITH THE PIXELS, IN WITH THE ISOMETRIC GLORY

Let’s talk about the glow up. The original game was a massive hit that perfectly blended shopkeeping simulation with top down dungeon crawling. Developer Digital Sun knew they had a winning formula, but they didn’t just copy and paste for the sequel.

That beloved pixel art from the first game? Gone. It’s been completely replaced by a gorgeous new isometric style that pops right off the screen.

Combat got a much needed overhaul too. You finally get a secondary ranged weapon, which is honestly a massive lifesaver when the dungeons get too chaotic. Add in some fresh perks and wild inventory synergies where just strategically placing items next to each other gives you buffs and every single roguelite run feels entirely different. The procedurally generated biomes push that risk versus reward tension way higher this time around. You are constantly debating whether to push forward for better loot or run home with what you have.

RETAIL THERAPY WITH A KICK

You can’t have a Moonlighter game without the daily hustle. Up top in the village, the shopkeeping aspect is drastically deeper.

You actually get granular control over store upgrades, massive sales events, and how you display your hard earned loot. It’s not just about aesthetics anymore. Your interior design choices and store decorations legitimately change how your customers behave.

It is sitting right there on Game Pass waiting for you right now. Time to wreck some monsters and sell their parts at a massive markup to unsuspecting villagers.
