Prison Simulator throws you directly into the incredibly stressful, high stakes shoes of a prison governor. You aren’t just locking doors and throwing away the key. You are constantly juggling the insane demands of unruly inmates, exhausted staff, and an administration that only cares about the bottom line. Can you actually turn a profit while keeping violent riots from tearing your facility apart? It is a brutal balancing act, and honestly, it is wildly addictive.
You don’t just inherit a sprawling mega prison on day one. You start with a tiny, bare bones facility that barely holds together. Slowly but surely, you have to scrape together enough cash to build new cell blocks, administrative offices, and security checkpoints.
It scratches that classic tycoon itch perfectly. You are constantly managing your budget, hiring the right staff, and plotting out your massive expansion. But remember, the bigger your empire gets, the harder it is to keep everyone in line. If you don’t allocate your guards properly and separate the heavy hitting violent offenders from the general population, your shiny new cell block will instantly turn into a massive warzone. You absolutely cannot let the inmates run the asylum.
Locking people up is really just half the job. You have to actively decide how to run your yard. Are you going to rule with an unforgiving iron fist, or actually try to rehabilitate these guys?
Cracking down hard on troublemakers is sometimes necessary, but setting up counseling, education programs, and job training actually changes their long term behavior. Finding that perfect sweet spot between the carrot and the stick is incredibly tough. Oh, and do not forget about your staff! Your correctional officers are going to complain about their grueling schedules, demand better pay, and threaten to walk out if you ignore their safety. You have to somehow keep the guards happy, the inmates calm, and the corporate bosses off your back all at the exact same time.
The criminal underworld doesn’t magically stop at your front gates. Rival gangs are constantly trying to seize control of your facility, smuggling in deadly weapons and drugs right under your nose.
You have to stay completely on your toes to shut down their violent outbursts before someone gets seriously hurt. And then there is the mafia. Shady mob bosses will absolutely try to slide you a heavy bribe to look the other way. The real question is: exactly how corrupt are you willing to get to balance the books? You can either dive deep into the gritty micro management—hand picking cell assignments and guard patrol routes yourself—or just let your Chief of Security handle the heavy lifting while you focus on the big picture.
The absolute best part about this game is how deeply you can customize your daily experience.
Want a hyper realistic, sweaty management sim? Turn on the brutal hunger mechanics, crank up the gang warfare, and let the contraband flow. Prefer to just chill out and build a cool looking facility without worrying about a full scale riot every five minutes? You can completely dial back the hardcore features and just enjoy the sandbox. It gives you total freedom to design your perfect penal business exactly how you want it, making sure you are always having fun while protecting society from its worst offenders.
In this update, we made it easier to complete several missions, including mission 16.
