The combat is completely turn based. You physically roll 3D dice on screen, deciding which ones to keep and which to chuck back for a reroll. Because there are zero hidden mechanics everything the enemy plans to do is right there out in the open every single turn plays out like a sweaty little mini puzzle. Make a mistake? Just hit undo. You can rewind your actions as much as you want before locking in your final move. After you scrape through an encounter, you get to either level up a hero or grab a powerful new item. And since every encounter is completely randomized, no two runs will ever feel the same.
