Stepping into the kingdom of Monares feels like a nostalgic trip back to the golden age of hardcore dungeon crawlers. The Quest throws you headfirst into a massive fantasy world that is currently tearing itself apart. A shadowy ruler is pulling the strings behind a brutal turf war, and it is entirely up to you to figure out exactly what is going on. You are going to need a lot more than just a sharp sword to survive this mess.
UNCOVERING THE ROT INSIDE THE CASTLE
The political landscape in this game is an absolute minefield. You aren’t just blindly swinging at everything that moves. The royal palace is packed with shady NPCs, twisting side quests, and a massive overarching mystery that you have to piece together yourself. The best part? You don’t actually have to play the glowing hero. If you realize the villains are making a lot of sense, you can totally cross enemy lines and join their ranks. Just watch your back. Wandering into high level monster territory unprepared will get you absolutely annihilated.
GETTING LOST IN THE WILDERNESS
This map is shockingly massive. You are navigating through brutal mountain passes, deep forests, and insanely dark cave systems using classic step by step directional movement. Every single turn feels like a calculated risk. Finding a locked dungeon or a heavily guarded prison usually means you are about to stumble onto some top tier loot. Just pay attention to the warning symbols scrawled on the walls. If you accidentally wander into an enemy faction’s stronghold, they aren’t going to ask nicely for you to leave. You will have to fight your way out.
HOARDING LOOT AND MIN MAXING YOUR GEAR
Walking into an ambush with starter gear is basically a death sentence. You have to aggressively manage your inventory, swapping between heavy war hammers, razor sharp swords, and thick plate armor just to survive the heavier enemy hits. The stat screen is absolute heaven for RPG nerds. You constantly have to balance the raw damage output of a weapon against its physical weight so you don’t end up encumbered in the middle of a dungeon. Once you scrape together enough gold, you can buy some ridiculously overpowered enchanted gear off the locals to completely turn the tide of a tough boss fight.
