The monsters crawling out of the dark here aren’t messing around. To survive, you have to push through more than 70 completely distinct, grueling levels just to restore a little bit of peace.

The game constantly feeds your curiosity by letting you hunt down rare, ancient artifacts that slowly piece together the bizarre, mysterious history of Az’Kalar. You get to bounce between multiple different game modes, tailoring the entire experience to however you want to play that day. If you get stuck on a wave, you just swap your strategy, experiment with a new magical loadout, and jump right back into the chaos.

Controlling your magical abilities actually feels incredibly intuitive. You are basically blasting pure, concentrated light out of your hands to melt through incoming swarms of enemies. Racking up kills earns you massive rewards, which you can dump right back into beefing up your arsenal and finally figuring out exactly what weaknesses these shadow creatures are hiding.

But honestly, the very first thing that hits you is just how ridiculously good this game looks. The vibrant, hand drawn cartoon graphics are an absolute visual feast. You get to explore massive, towering temples and gorgeous mystical lands, all while an insanely atmospheric soundtrack bumps in the background. The music does an incredible job of pulling you completely into the action. It makes every single boss fight and frantic wave defense feel incredibly epic.
